The Emberlight Festival is pleased to announce four pillars in their annual programming: Art In The Park, International Film Festival, a Main Stage concert series, and the Emberlight Ambassador program. Each of these events will be featured in Emberlight’s summer festival every year, and applications for the 2021 season are opening this month.
The 2021 Emberlight Festival will be from August 26 until September 5 in Ironwood, Michigan. To heed health restrictions and ensure the audience’s safety, the Emberlight Festival’s 2021 season will be produced outdoors with proper social distancing at all times.
Art In The Park is a large-installation art show hosted by the Miners Memorial Heritage Park. Previously seen from 2015-2017, Emberlight’s Board has committed to producing Art In The Park every year to continue the rich tradition of this successful event. Applications open on February 1 and will be available until May 31. The show premieres on July 2 and will be open to the public through September 5. Art In The Park will be juried by a panel of industry professionals independent of the western Upper Peninsula and Emberlight will offer over $3,000 in prizes.
The Film Festival is overseen by international director and producer, Colton Pometta, and will be hosted in Ironwood’s Historic Depot Park and Pavilion from August 31 - September 3, 2021. Filmmakers from around the world can submit their work via FilmFreeway beginning February 8. The 2021 Festival will focus on narrative shorts, documentary shorts, and micro films. A panel of film industry professionals will review the films and decide the finalists to be screened during the 2021 Festival in Ironwood.
The Main Stage concert series is the major live performance component of Emberlight’s programming. The Main Stage will be an opportunity for residents and visitors of the Upper Peninsula to see acclaimed performers from Broadway, The Metropolitan Opera, and the world’s concert stages in their own backyard. The 2021 Main Stage performances will be staged at the base of Big Powderhorn Mountain in Bessemer, Michigan.
The final pillar of Emberlight’s programming is an exclusive opportunity for young people across the Upper Peninsula and northern Wisconsin. The Emberlight Ambassador Program is a unique mentorship opportunity for the next generation of art lovers, volunteers, community leaders, artists, humanitarians, and socially conscious individuals. Applications open on February 15 for individuals 16 - 22 years of age. Emberlight will work with accepted Ambassadors to build a curriculum over the summer that may include master classes with visiting professional artists, writing sessions to prepare for college applications, seminars with local business and artistic leaders, and opportunities throughout the Emberlight Festival.
More information and applications for each pillar are available on Emberlight’s website (www.Emberlight.org).
The Emberlight Festival currently has special sponsorship opportunities available for individuals or businesses who wish to underwrite specific events or artists in the 2021 festival. Write firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
