The Emberlight International Film Festival is a beacon in the western Upper Peninsula of Michigan, celebrating and supporting independent filmmakers from around the world.
We are dedicated to curating an inclusive environment where professionals across all artistic mediums can strike up conversation. Filmmakers, painters, dancers, musicians and writers alike draw inspiration from each other as well as
the beauty of the pristine nature of the region.

The Emberlight International Film Festival brings new perspectives to the western Upper Peninsula through the lens of diverse filmmakers.
In exchange, we expose the filmmakers who visit our festival to the unique opportunities and resources of this magnificent region. Not only does the area boast spectacular backdrops of the Northern Lights and Lake Superior; the people of our community are eager to contribute to the art of independent filmmaking.
The International Film Festival,
like all components of Emberlight, is truly a community effort made possible by thousands of hours of volunteer work each year.
We recognize that communities thrive and experience economic spurs when they welcome the film industry, often bringing new opportunities,
new jobs and redevelopment.
The Emberlight International Film Festival is on a mission to give back to the community that makes our programming possible. Our goal is to sow the seeds to put the western Upper Peninsula on the filmmaking map, so both our community and filmmakers will reap the benefits.
